The Daily Mail is reporting a sensational story that could see Didier Drogba return to the Premier League with Arsenal.
Having left Chelsea in the summer, things haven’t gone particularly well for the striker at Shanghai Shenhua with financial problems rocking the Chinese club.
This has led to speculation that Drogba could join a top European club and the latest to be linked are the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger has endured Drogba destroying his defence for many years of course and now he may turn to the Ivory Coast international to boost his attacking options.
Following the departure of Robin Van Persie to Manchester United, Arsenal could do with a proven Premier League goal scorer and Drogba fits the bill.
It is being rumoured that they have made an inquiry about securing his signature, with Liverpool and Real Madrid keeping tabs on the situation too.
The problem for Arsenal could be whether Drogba is willing to join the London rivals of his former team Chelsea.
It also seems that he is passionate about succeding with the project in China, so isn’t prepared to throw in the towel just yet.
Whatever happens, several top European clubs would love to have the 34-year-old in their squad and this says a lot about him.
Will Arsenal shock many and sign Drogba? We will have to wait and see.
