According to the Mirror, the representatives of Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho have already made contract with Newcastle United, following the takeover on Thursday. With money presumably not remotely an issue and a project to be realized, the Premier League side are expected to attract such players, who are struggling at current clubs after proving themselves elsewhere.
Coutinho rose to great heights at Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, before forcing his way out to join Barcelona for an eventual fee of €160 million. The move quickly proved to have been anything but the right one, and his career took a definite downturn from there, while Liverpool went on to win the Champions League and the Premier League without him.
The only truly successful season the Brazil international has had so far since the move was 2019-20, which he spent on loan at Bayern Munich and won the treble.
In the last year or so, numerous reports claimed the 29-year-old Brazilian playmaker was seeking a way out of the Camp Nou and Barcelona were ready to let him go for a reasonable price, but no serious offers arrived.
