According to a recent report from Sport, Philippe Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has confirmed that he will be staying at Barcelona.
The reason for this, simply put, is that new manager Ronald Koeman wants him to be a big part of his plans moving forward with the club. Coutinho enjoyed a somewhat successful stint at Bayern Munich on loan, but it was always clear to see he wasn’t going to be purchased on a permanent basis by the German giants.
We’d seen discussions in the media that indicated Coutinho could contemplate a move back to the Premier League this summer, given that he found arguably his greatest success during his stint at Anfield with now-champions Liverpool.
The 28-year-old still appears to be in the prime of his career and has renewed motivation, so if Koeman wants to try and give him another chance, there aren’t many fans that can be too annoyed by the decision.
