Coyle casts his eyes forward

Bolton manager Owen Coyle remains confident he will be able to bring in new forwards before the transfer window closes.

Only club captain Kevin Davies and Croatian striker Ivan Klasnic remain in the first team squad as out-and-out strikers, and Coyle has been linked with the likes of Liverpool’s David N’Gog and Birmingham’s Cameron Jerome as he searches to boost his side’s firepower.

Coyle has so far been left frustrated in his quest, but the former Burnley boss remains undeterred.

“I am always confident,” he said. “I will do my utmost to furnish the club with those signings that will help the team.”

“It is always more difficult if you don’t have the finance.”

“I don’t get too caught up in what everybody else has got. Good luck to them. I have to make the best of the hand that I am dealt.”

“Football has got more difficult. Gone are the days when everyone had the same amount of money and it was a level playing field.”

“But you can still have success in cup competitions and improve your league position. That is what you have to do.”

Bolton begin their Premier League campaign with a trip to newly promoted Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
