Hernan Crespo has said he was “speechless” with delight after leaving Genoa to return to Parma, the club where the Argentine forward made his name in the late 1990s.

Serie A Parma have bought Crespo in a complicated deal which entails Nicola Amoruso leaving them to join Atalanta, who have sent Robert Acquafresca back to Genoa from a loan stint.

Crespo only moved to Genoa in the close season from Inter Milan after failing to convince Jose Mourinho to give him a regular starting place at the San Siro.

But he found his playing time limited at Genoa too and decided to move on after David Suazo’s arrival at the club on loan from Inter threatened to reduce it further.

“I’m speechless. My happiness is boundless,” he told the website of the promoted club (www.fcparma.com), who are 12th in Serie A.

“I’ve always been a Parma fan and coming back to (wear) this shirt is an incredible emotion.”

The 34-year-old played for Lazio, Chelsea and AC Milan and had two stints at Inter after leaving Parma in 2000, having helped them win the Italian Cup and UEFA Cup in 1999.
