Competition: League One
Market: Crewe win
Odds: 10/11 @ 888sport
With a chance to potentially break back into the play-off spots on Saturday afternoon, Crewe will make the trip to the Crown Oil Arena when they face off against Rochdale.
Starting with the hosts, after not featuring since way back on December 19th due to the current climate, Rochdale mark their return to action this weekend desperately seeking a bounce. While Brian Barry-Murphy’s side might have shocked many across League One as they secured that stunning 5-0 romp against fellow scrappers Wigan last month, it appears that victory at the DW could have just been a minor bounce. Still firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap and hunting down a two-point deficit, Rochdale were last seen three weeks ago when they got hit with a hugely concerning 4-1 hammering against Gillingham on home soil. Collecting just three points from their last four League One contests, they also hold a reputation for their glaring issues on home soil. Without a win in Greater Manchester since October 3rd, Rochdale have remarkably recorded just a single home victory in any of their 13 matchups at the Crown Oil Arena this season.
As for the visitors, also handed an extended break and not featuring since they played out a 1-1 draw against Fleetwood on Boxing Day, Crewe should be relishing a return to action this weekend. After securing an automatic return to England’s third-tier last season, David Artell’s men really have a shock play-off charge at the top of their agenda. Knowing that three points in Greater Manchester could see them climb into the top-six, the Railwaymen are unbeaten in their last six League One appearances on the bounce. In fact, collecting 10 points over their last four contests, including a 2-1 win away at AFC Wimbledon in their last matchup outside of Cheshire, the mood in Crewe’s camp should be at a high when they return to action this weekend. Looking to cash in on the relegation scrappers, we’re backing an away victory on Saturday.
