Zenit full-back Domenico Criscito could be returning to Italy this month, according to his official representative.
The 27-year-old seems to have regretted leaving Serie A and he is hoping to join one of Italy’s top clubs in the January window.
His representative Andrea D’Amico has moved to confirm reports that his client is wanted by a number of Italian sides, adding that a January exit remains a realistic possibility.
“Clubs from Italy are showing serious interest in Domenico, but I wouldn’t want to disclose their names,” D’Amico told Izvestia.
“It is possible that Criscito will return to Serie A, but when it will happen, that is diffiucult to say.”
Domenico Criscito was widely regarded as one of Italy’s best left-backs when he surprisingly opted to leave Genoa for Zenit, and his career in Russia has been plagued by numerous injuries.
The player is now determined to play himself back into the first team plans of Azzurri boss Cesare Prandelli, which is exactly why he wants to return to Serie A.
Criscito joined Zenit in the summer of 2011 and has since featured in 45 league matches and scored 3 goals.
