Former Lazio midfielder Cristian Ledesma has joined Brazilian giants Santos, it has been revealed.
The 32-year-old had been a free agent since he was released from his contract at Stadio Olimpico and the long wait proved worthwhile as he secured a deal with one of South America’s most famous clubs.
Ledesma’s agents have been in talks with the club for over a month and an agreement was finally reached this week.
The experienced midfielder has only played for two clubs in his professional career, representing Lecce and Lazio after coming through the youth ranks at Boca Juniors.
Cristian Daniel Ledesma made a total of 356 Serie A appearances, scoring 15 goals, while he even represented Italy national team on one occasion.
The highly rated footballer has now decided to return to South America and chances are he will not be coming back to Europe seeing as he probably wants to end his playing days closer to home.
