Competition: Champions League
Market: Ronaldo to be this season’s top Champions League scorer
Odds: 1/5 @ 888 Sport
After bagging a double in Real Madrid’s 3-1 last-16 second leg victory against Bundesliga side Schalke 04, forward Cristiano Ronaldo took his Champions League tally to 13 this season – putting him three goals ahead of PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic in second-place.
As a result, the Portuguese international is now 1/5 to lead the goalscoring charts by the end of the tournament. With 13 goals scored from just seven games, the 29-year old has surpassed last season’s tally in Europe by a goal already. Ronaldo was the top Champions League scorer last season with 12 goals, and with the likelihood he will win it again this campaign, there’s little doubt the ex-Manchester United man is enjoying the best form of his career.
888 Sport are giving odds of 1/5 for Ronaldo to win it again this campaign, and with Madrid tipped to go the distance in the Champions League, that makes last year’s Ballon D’Or winner a shoo-in to add to his already impressive tally.
The record for most European goals scored in one season stands at 14, but it looks nailed on that Ronaldo will not only surpass it, but he’ll be the top goalscorer by some distance this season too.
