In a battle between two Italian giants on their return to action this week, Juventus will welcome AC Milan to the Allianz with a spot in the final of this year’s Coppa Italia up for grabs.
Starting with the hosts, while Juventus may have entered the enforced break with a shock 1-0 defeat away at French outfit Lyon, Maurizio Sarri’s men are once again sat in pole position for a domestic silverware sweep. With a growing reputation for their performances on home soil throughout the year, there is no doubt that the one-time Chelsea boss will be calling on attacking talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to lead their charge on Friday night. Continuing to break records in Turin this season, the Portuguese icon has already recorded 36 goals for club and country this campaign, including a staggering 19 strikes over his last 17 appearances. Finding the net when he made the trip to the San Siro in Juve’s 1-1 draw back in February, a red-hot Ronaldo should be looking to mark his return with a statement this week.
As for the visitors, while AC Milan may have made a string of much-needed alterations when opening 2020, I Rossoneri found themselves in the midst of another inconsistent patch prior to the enforced break. Losing nine of their last 10 trips to Turin, the European outsiders could be in for a tricky return to action on Friday night.
