The Luka Modric transfer saga has gone on from the moment the 2011/12 season finished but it seems as though he is finally closing in on a move to Real Madrid, that’s according to the Daily Express.
It is clear that the Croatian wants out of White Hart Lane and the Bernabeu is his desired destination.
However, the deal has stalled of late as the two clubs could not agree a fee for the playmaker.
Now though, Croatia manager Igor Stimac has stated that Modric will be playing in La Liga this season, he said: “He has not played any games this summer but will end up signing for Madrid before the market shuts.”
Real has seemed as though they were willing to lose out on their big transfer target but he could now move before the month is out after all.
Tottenham have added Gylfi Sigurdsson to their squad this summer who seems to be a like for like replacement for Modric.
But with just two recognised strikers at the club, that could be where Andre Villas Boas looks to strengthen with the money he will receive for the midfielder.
With just over two weeks left to buy players, could this story that has been going on for months finally be about to happen?
We shall see.
