Croatia might have to do without the influential midfielder Ivan Rakitic during the side’s quarter final clash with Turkey tomorrow.

Rakitic is struggling with a painful knee and will undergo a fitness test just ahead of Friday’s match.

“The medical staff is optimistic about his recovery. But we don’t know whether his knee will keep hurting. We hope that he’ll be fine,” said coach Slaven Bilic.

Rakitic has been of great importance during the group phase, and takes most Croatian free kicks.

The match with Turkey will be played at 20:45 CET in Austria’s capital city Vienna.
