Dinamo Zagreb chief Zdravko Mamic has moved to confirm that Spanish giants Barcelona are in talks to sign talented midfielder Alen Halilovic.
The 17-year-old is widely regarded as one of world’s most talented footballers and he has already caught the eye of top European clubs.
Dinamo Zagreb had earlier rejected offers from Tottenham and Barcelona, but it appears the Catalans are determined to add the midfielder to their ranks.
The Croatian club have received a new offer from Camp Nou and they are set to resume talks with the La Liga side.
“We have received an offer from Barcelona for Halilovic, on the last day of the training camp in Belek, but it was not accepted since neither Dinamo nor the player’s family were quite satisfied with the conditions,” Dinamo Zagreb chief Zdravko Mamic told Jutarnji List.
“However, the story does not end there. Barcelona are pressing to complete the deal.”
Despite his fragile age, the 17-year-old has already featured in 31 league matches for Modri while also making 6 Champions League appearances.
Halilovic has so far earned 3 Croatia caps and has a good chance to play for his country at the forthcoming 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
