Johan Cruyff has hit out at Barcelona hooligans after flares were thrown during the derby clash against Espanyol on Saturday.
The Dutchman says Spanish football took a step backwards after the incident.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has worked hard to get rid of several hooligan groups during his time at Camp Nou.
“What has happened today has been very bad for football. I think we have taken a step back with this.” he told La Sexta. “In Camp Nou the president has avoided these types of people on more than one occasion.
“Football is something for the whole gamily and these people are unacceptable here or in any sport.”
Cruyff also took time to comment on Real Madrid’s summer transfer activity.
He said: “They have had many problems that were not resolved until the last moment. I think those were things that a club of that size should not have left so late.
“The Robinho case being one of those things.”
