Crystal Palace are teetering on the fine line between safety and relegation from the Premier League as they currently sit 13th, three points above the drop zone. Results have certainly improved under new manager Roy Hodgson, but it is little surprise that the former England coach is looking to bolster his squad in this January transfer window.
One deal close to completion is between the Eagles and La Liga side Getafe for goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, according to the Evening Standard. The 31-year old shot stopper will reportedly cost the London based side £7m, and he is currently in London to finalise the move.
Guaita has conceded just 18 goals in La Liga this season, and could become the first choice goalkeeper at Crystal Palace, with Hodgson seemingly unable to trust Wayne Hennessey or Julian Speroni with a consistent starting role.
The Eagles have leaked 37 goals this season, a statistic that has certainly contributed to their struggles, but it looks as though they are taking the necessary steps to improve that aspect of their game.
