Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace have missed out on signing Italian veteran Alberto Gilardino, according to the Mail Online.
The former Parma and AC Milan man has instead opted to sign a contract with Serie A side Spezia after last week being offered to the Eagles on a short-term deal.
Palace are desperately searching for a forward on a free transfer with Christian Benteke and Conor Wickham both on the sidelines while Wilfried Zaha is also out injured.
The South London club have had an unbelievably poor start to the 2017/18 campaign, losing all of their opening seven league games – the first side in Premier League history ever to suffer that feat while to make matters worse they have failed to score a single goal in that time.
They are unsurprisingly favourites to be relegated at the end of the season, but can be backed at 13/8 to stay up.
