Crystal Palace are interested in signing Olivier Giroud from Chelsea, according to Mirror.
The 33-year-old Frenchman is reportedly the subject of interest for several European giants, such as Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, but Palace are prepared to go toe-to-toe with them if necessary. They will be hoping that the promise of game-time, the main reason for Giroud’s apparent wish to leave Stamford Bridge, will be enough to turn his thoughts their way.
In fact, as the report suggests, the Eagles are worried about their front line being severely light on quality in case winger Wilfried Zaha eventually leaves the club. Zaha was linked heavily with Arsenal during the summer, before the Gunners signed Nicolas Pepe instead. However, with Chelsea’s transfer ban out of the way, it seems Giroud’s club are ready to break the bank to sign him as a replacement for Eden Hazard, who went to Real Madrid.
It could mean that a swap between the two London clubs may be on the cards.
