CSKA Moscow had their title hopes dented by a 0-1 defeat to local rivals Spartak, where Bazhenov scored the winning goal on 55 minutes.

Leaders Rubin Kazan could now secure the championship at Saturn Mosk Oblast on Sunday.

Zenit St Petersburg found their way into the top four of the Russian Premier League with a 1-0 win over Khimki.

The only goal of the match, in Russia’s second-largest city, was scored by Danny after sixteen minutes.

Zenit are now fourth, although they could still lose their spot to Amkar Perm who play early on Sunday.
