Russian newspaper Izvestia understands that CSKA Moscow are keeping close tabs on Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Alen Halilovic.
The Croatian starlet has long ago caught the eye of top European clubs, with Bayern Munich and Tottenham believed to be leading the chase.
However, Izvestia has learned that CSKA Moscow are also showing serious interest in the 17-year-old footballer.
With star midfielder Keisuke Honda set to join AC Milan this winter, the Army Men believe Halilovic would be an excellent long-term replacement for the Japanese.
CSKA have sent scouts to watch the player in action at the Under-17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates and they have been delighted with the midfielder’s performances.
Given that Halilovic’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, Dinamo Zagreb have no choice but to cash in on him in January.
CSKA Moscow trail league leaders Zenit 11 points at the moment, and they are 16/1 for the league title.
