CSKA Moscow sign Pontus Wernbloom

CSKA Moscow have completed the signing of midfielder Pontus Wernbloom from AZ Alkmaar.

The Russian clubs announced the deal on their official website, stating that Wernbloom had signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Army Men.

“Wernbloom arrived last night in Campoamor to take part in the team’s training camp,” the statement read.

The two clubs have reached an agreement over the transfer fee almost two weeks ago, but the player’s representatives need some time to agree personal terms with the Russian club.

The Swedish midfielder has now joined his new teammates for a training camp in Spain, where Leonid Slutsky’s side prepare for the second part of the season.

The 25-year-old became a key player for AZ Alkmaar after making a switch from Gotenburg in the summer of 2009.

Wernbloom featured in 67 league games for AZ, scoring seven goals in the process.

The Swede is the second player from Dutch Eredivisie to arrive to CSKA, after Nigerian striker Ahmed Musa.
