CSKA Moscow have reached an agreement to sign full-back Mario Fernandes from Gremio, the Brazilian club have confirmed.

Gremio president Paulo Odone recently revealed the two clubs had agreed on the transfer fee and that the negotiations between the Russian club and the player would start on Monday.

The two parties wasted no time in finalizing the deal and it has now been confirmed that Fernandes will join his new team at the end of next month.

“We signed the contract on the night between Wednesday and Thursday,” Odone told TV Globo.

“He will remain with us until the end of our campaign in the Brazilian Cup.”

France Football believes the transfer is worth around €15 million, with the transfer fee set to be divided between the Brazilian club and a group of investors who owned a part of the player’s rights.

Fernandes is essentially a right-back, but he can also be deployed in the heart of defence.

The highly rated player has started his professional career at Gremio and has since played 87 league games for the club.
