CSKA want Rijkaard as new coach

Three-time Russian champions CSKA Moscow said on Friday that former Barcelona and Dutch national team manager Frank Rijkaard was a candidate to replace Valery Gazzaev, local media reported Friday.

Rijkaard's candidacy was announced at the club's meeting.

Earlier this year Gazzaev, who took over CSKA in 2001, said he had intended to step down at the end of the season.

Gazzayev led CSKA to three national titles (2003, 2005, 2006), four Russian cups (2002, 2005, 2006, 2008), and the UEFA Cup in 2005.

In June, Rijkaard resigned from the post of Barcelona manager after five years at the helm. He won two Spanish crowns (2005, 2006) and the European Champions' League in 2006.

Rijkaard also coached the Dutch national side from 1998-2000.

Local media also suggested under-pressure Brazilian national coach Dunga was a possible candidate for the CSKA post.

Two Dutch coaches are already working in the Russian football.

Guus Hiddink led Russia's national team into the Euro 2008 semi-finals, while Dick Advocaat led Zenit St Petersburg to their first Russian title last year and this year's UEFA Cup.
