Competition: UEFA Nations League
Market: Czech Republic win
Odds: 11/10 @ 888sport
Looking to build off of their midweek performance, the Czech Republic will turn their attention back to Nations League duties when they travel to Israel on Sunday night.
Starting with the hosts, watching their chances of securing a spot at next year’s European Championships brought to an end after suffering penalties defeat away at Hampden on Thursday night, Israel have really struggled to find any kind of form over the past 16 months. Failing to offer much in the final third in Scotland and mustering just a single shot on target, Willibald Ruttensteiner’s men could also only open this year’s Nations League campaign with back-to-back stalemates. Now in the midst of a five-match winless run across all competitions, a 3-1 win against Latvia last year was Israel’s only victory of any form since June 2019. With their recent issues highlighted by 3-1 and 4-0 drumming at the hands of Austria and Poland, the Blue and Whites could be in for another tough test this weekend.
As for the visitors, while the Czech Republic might have been disappointed to have seen Scotland land a 2-1 win on foreign soil on Nations League duties last month, Jaroslav Šilhavý’s men managed to make a return to winning ways earlier in the week. Picking up a 2-1 win away in Cyprus on Wednesday night, they have won five of their last eight matchups across all formats and will welcome back a host of their biggest names this weekend. Picking up a famous victory against the Three Lions last year, it should also be noted that the Czech Republic do hold an eye-catching record on their travels. Landing back-to-back wins on foreign soil, including opening this year’s tournament with a 3-1 win against Slovakia, they should also be boosted by their most recent meetings against Sunday’s hosts. Also landing back-to-back victories against Israel, we’re backing a similar outcome for the Group 2 contenders.
