Kenny Dalglish and his Liverpool side, unbeaten in eight games in all competitions, want the action to keep coming thick and fast.

After victory in his first European tie as a Liverpool manager on Thursday, the Merseysiders tackle West Ham on Sunday with an air of optimism spreading through the club.

“When you are doing well as we are at the moment, you want the games to keep coming,” Dalglish said.

“The players look forward to them. I’m sure they would rather play matches right now than train.”

The Liverpool manager hopes any signs of fatigue from Thursday can be countered by the return of some key players.

“We will be getting a few back in and that should freshen things up,” Dalglish said.

“Glen Johnson and Steven Gerrard are very close to full fitness, we will see if they make it for the West Ham game.”

“And it will be nice to get Luis Suarez back after he was cup-tied. Both he and Andy Carroll have settled in really well.”

Joe Cole’s return to fitness has also impressed his boss. “Him coming back for us has been a real bonus,” he said.

“I was surprised at how good his fitness was on Thursday. It has been tough for Joe here with the injuries, but he is a great asset to me.” He was, however, wary of the threat posed by Avram Grant’s struggling West Ham side.

“It will be difficult. It is a fantastic football club, they haven’t had a great season but they can be great on their day,” Dalglish said.

“I just hope it isn’t their day this Sunday.”
