Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was disappointed his side could not take all three points in their 1-1 draw with Norwich on Saturday.
The Reds controlled large chunks of the match at Anfield and took the lead in the first half through Craig Bellamy.
But a second-half header from Grant Holt gave the visitors a share of the points, with Liverpool failing to capitalise on a host of chances.
Dalglish told his post-match press conference: “I think on the balance of the game we deserved to take three points from it. We played really well up to a point, created an awful lot of chances and there was some great passing and moving.”
“But when you are only one goal in front it gives them a bit of encouragement. They were hanging on in there.”
“If we don’t convert our chances we’re always going to give the opposition a chance. They took it.”
“Even then we came back and the goalkeeper has made a fantastic save from Luis late on and big Andy almost scored with a header as well.”
“We’re disappointed but I am sure we’ll play a lot worse than that and win matches.”
The Reds have struggled to find the target this season, but Dalglish was optimistic they would soon start to convert their opportunities into goals.
He said: “You work to get the chances on the day. It’s difficult to assess how you’re going to react when you get the chances, but hitting the post three or four times as well doesn’t help.”
“But if we keep creating the chances, we’ve got enough people there who can finish them.”
Norwich City manager Paul Lambert hailed the ‘huge point’, and backed goalkeeper John Ruddy for an England call up after an excellent performance from the shot stopper.
“It’s massive, it’s a huge, huge point. The way we’re playing and what we’ve created at Norwich has been excellent,” Lambert said.
“In a funny way, going to Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford, even though we lost the games, we played very well and I think that’s given them the belief that we can go and compete with teams.”
“I said to John in the dressing room, I think when you play at a really high level with big moments, big players will produce big performances; it’s the nature of the game.”
“That save (from Suarez in injury time) was world class and I hear all the rumours that England might be looking at him. They could do a lot worse, that’s for sure with the way he’s playing.”
