Dalglish says Premier League must adapt

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has warned that the Premier League is risking the loss of foreign players.

Dalglish said that by not adapting to understand cultural differences, in light of the racism row involving Luis Suarez, the league could pay a heavy penalty.

The Uruguay striker has been accused of racially abusing Patrice Evra during the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Manchester United in October, and has been charged by the FA.

Suarez is believed to have used a word that is not considered to be offensive according to his culture, and Dalglish believes foreign players may be forced away if they cannot adapt.

“The more good players we can get over here the better,” Dalglish told the Sunday Mirror.

“If we’re attracting foreigners they’ve got to be able to adapt to different cultures and customs. If they don’t they will stop coming.”

“I’m not just talking about Luis Suarez here. If we are to attract people to the Premier League then we have to adjust to them like they’ve got to adjust to us.”
