Dalglish slams Suarez PSG link

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has hit out at the media after Luis Suarez was recently linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Dalglish has been a staunch supporter of the striker following a season of controversy and was far from pleased with a recent interview when the 25-year-old was mentioned to the chairman of the Ligue 1 leaders, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

The Paris club are funded by the billionaire, and are expected to invest heavily during the off-season.

But Dalglish is adamant reports linking the Uruguayan striker with a move are not as strong as the media has made out.

“It comes as a surprise to myself, that yourselves (journalists) don’t know how the media work,” Dalglish told reporters.

“It was a journalist that mentioned the list of names and it was the chairman that said ‘oh they are interesting’. It was a list of names and Suarez’s name was mentioned, but I don’t know if it was Luis Suarez. I don’t know what Suarez it is.”

“Also if the guy who sends the story in, if it is not repeated anywhere else and it has no soul and is not attractive to a newspaper, they don’t get any money.”

“So I think it will be interesting to yourselves to disclose to the general public where the story comes from, how they get there, instead of asking us questions every time somebody’s name appears in a paper.”

Dalglish is preparing his side for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Sunderland.

The Reds are looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Arsenal, when a late Robin van Persie goal condemned them to their first home loss of the season.
