The 31-year-old, who was at Inter from 2001 to 2005 and also enjoyed spells at Marseille, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham, has been linked with a switch to the Brittany club since the beginning of the summer.
“Stephane Dalmat will leave FCSM (Football Club Sochaux-Montbeliard) for Stade Rennais FC,” read a statement on the Sochaux website.
“He’s expected in Rennes on Sunday evening to undergo a medical examination and sign a contract for two years with Stade Rennais FC.”
Dalmat spent three seasons at Sochaux, playing 91 games and scoring seven goals.
