Dani Alves rejects new Barca contract; Ryan Giggs wants a new deal

Dani Alves rejects new Barca contract

Dani Alves could be on the way out of Barcelona after he rejected another contract offer from the Catalans.

The player’s representative, Joaquin Macanas and vice president of Barcelona’s sport section Josep Maria Bartomeu failed to reach an agreement at a meeting yesterday.

Barcelona had offered Alves the similar wage to that of Pique, Puyol and Valdes, but the Brazilian has rejected that offer as he believes it is not too different from pervious proposals.

Alves is reportedly asking for €7 million per season, but Barcelona are not prepared to break their wage structure and will not go more than €6 million.

If the Catalans fail to reach an agreement with the Brazilian before the end of the season, they might be forced to sell him before his contract expires in June 2012.

Ryan Giggs wants a new deal

Ryan Giggs has announced he wants to extend his Manchester United contract for another season before hanging up his boots.

Ryan Giggs has been one of the stand out performers following his return from injury and the Welshman says he is happy to continue playing at the highest level.

“I am quite happy still playing at the moment and enjoying my football as much as ever,” he said.

“I said if I was still enjoying myself and still getting picked I would carry on. We will sit down and talk but I am really looking forward to playing next year.”

“I don’t know when it will be sorted out,’ said Giggs. “We have been quite relaxed about it over the years but it is usually done and dusted quite quickly.”

The Manchester United legend has been in very good form this season, showing that he still has something left in him and there is no doubt he should be given a new deal at Old Trafford.

Coyle hints at new January signings

Bolton boss Owen Coyle plans to add more reinforcements in January after signing David Wheater.

Considering the pretty small squad he can choose from, Owen Coyle is eager to bring few more players in January.

“We would like to add to our squad again. We are in the market but a few boxes need to be ticked for that to come to fruition.

“David Wheater is an exciting signing and shows again if we are going to spend money we are going to invest it in young players.”

“I am absolutely delighted to bring a quality player to the club and at young player at that at 23.

“He has already played in tremendous fashion in the Premier League and been involved in some England squads. We want to get him back to that level. To do that he was to do well for Bolton.”

With several high-profile players like Gary Cahill and Johan Elmander likely to leave the club next summer, Coyle has already started searching for their replacements and we should expect one centre forward arriving to Reebok Stadium.
