Former Real Betis striker Dani believes the current Real Madrid side are the best the capital city club have had for several seasons.
Real travel to Betis on Saturday looking to increase their ten-point lead at the top of La Liga, and have been in sterling form all season.
Dani, who plays for third-tier Atletico Baleares, had nothing but words of praise for Jose Mourinho’s team.
“This is the best Madrid team in recent years,” Dani told Goal.com.
“The numbers say it all. They are ten points ahead of the best team in the world, Barcelona. Sure there will be a great atmosphere, and that will not make it easy for Real Madrid. However, Real Madrid are clearly the favourites.”
Dani went on to relive a memorable strike of his for Betis, as he came on as a substitute to give his side a 1-0 Champions League victory over Mourinho’s Chelsea in 2002/03.
“It was one of the biggest games of my career. Playing in the Champions League and getting a win over Mourinho and Chelsea, scoring a goal also, is something I will remember forever,” he said.
“It was my debut in the Champions League and I think I only had ten minutes to score the goal. It was amazing.”
