Liverpool have been handed a major boost to their title ambitious with star forward Daniel Sturridge returning into action well ahead of schedule.
The 24-year-old has spent last six weeks on the sidelines with an ankle problem, but he is set to return for the crucial stage of the season.
Latest reports have suggested that Sturridge has resumed training with his teammates and could even be in contention for weekend’s clash against Stoke City, where the Reds are 4/6 favourites to claim maximum points.
Liverpool sit six points adrift of leaders Arsenal following back to back defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea, although they have returned to winning ways, having beaten Hull City in the league and Oldham in the FA Cup.
With Sturridge scoring 9 goals in first 12 Premier League games, there are no doubts his return will make the Reds a lot more dangerous up front and possibly help them revive their title bid.
Liverpool are currently priced at 9/1 for the league title, but with several easy games next for Brendan Rodgers’ side, there may be some value in those odds.
And with Steven Gerrard also returning into action last week, the Reds have a lot of reason for optimism ahead of the match at Britannia Stadium.
