(GSM) – Portugal midfielder Danny, struggling with a thigh injury, is highly unlikely to feature in their second round match against Spain on Tuesday.

The Portuguese player clashed with Brazil keeper Julio Cesar before the final whistle blew and had to be helped off the pitch.

“Danny has a bruise on the left thigh. (He is) undergoing intensive treatment in an attempt to recover for the next game,” the Portuguese Football Federation said in a statement.

The 26-year-old winger played in Portugal’s World Cup opener against the Ivory Coast on June 15, but was back in the starting lineup for the final group game against Brazil on Friday.

The Portuguese team will receive a boost with the return of midfielder Deco from the hip injury that ruled him out of Portugal’s last two Group G matches.
