Premier League holders Manchester City are stepping up their efforts to sign striker Danny Ings from Burnley, according to the Daily Mail.
The Citizens have been impressed with the forward’s performances this season and they also plan to increase their home-grown quota by adding the 22-year-old to their ranks.
Manchester City officials have already opened talks with the player’s agents, but they face stiff competition for his signature with Liverpool also keen.
The Citizens recruited Wilfried Bony from Swansea in January, but with Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic linked with summer exit, they also plan to add Ings to the rotation.
Danny Ings needed a while to make an impact at Turf Moor having joined from AFC Bournemouth, but he has seen his stock rise significantly over the last two years.
After bagging 20 goals to help the Clarets secure promotion to the Premier League, the forward went on to net 9 times in first 24 top flight matches.
