Darmian closes in on Juventus switch

According to Sky Italia, Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian is closing in on a return to Italian football. The 28-year-old’s agent has recently met with Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici, and the two sides are supposedly in negotiations over the move being finalised. Darmian’s move away from Old Trafford has been heavily rumoured for quite some time now, but it appears as if it’s finally being taken to the next step.

Darmian has had a mixed three-year spell with United, going from fan favourite to villain and back four or five times. He moved to United from Torino where he spent four years, having initially had a nine-year spell with AC Milan where he came up through the youth setup all the way through to the first team.

The Italian signed a four-year deal with United, meaning that his current run with the English giants is set to expire next year regardless of whether this transfer goes through or not.
