Darren Bent has suggested to Football Insider that Aston Villa star Jack Grealish should stay at the club.
Grealish played an important role in Villa staving off the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the past season.
However, speculation is rife on the future of the 24-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.
According to The Sun, Premier League giants Manchester United, who have qualified for the Champions League next season and are rated at 9/5 to win the Europa League this campaign by Betfair, are interested in the Englishman this summer.
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Villa want at least £80 million as transfer fee for the 24-year-old.
It has also been claimed that the Villans are ready to increase his weekly salary from £70,000 to £100,000 in order to keep him at Villa Park.
Former Villa striker Bent has given his take on the future of Grealish, and has suggested that he should stay at Villa Park.
Bent told Football Insider about Bent: “Honestly, at the minute he needs to weigh up and think about where he’s going to go – he could stay at Villa where he’s the captain, the main man and his boyhood club and he knows he’d be a god if he was to stay.”
Dilemma
Grealish is arguably the best and most important player at Villa at the moment, and the 24-year-old is at crossroads this season.
While the Villans are a big club and he is a fan, they are likely to fight for survival in the Premier League next season and are not going to challenge for top honours.
Given the potential and quality of Grealish, it would be a shame if he is not able to showcase himself at a top club.
