Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Freiburg stopper Matthias Ginter, German newspaper Bild has revealed.
With both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand set to quit Old Trafford in the summer, manager David Moyes is on the lookout for defensive reinforcements.
And the Scottish coach appears to be hot on the trail of Freiburg starlet Matthias Ginter, having watched the player in action as Hertha and Freiburg played out a goalless draw on Friday night.
The 20-year-old has developed into one of Bundesliga’s top central defenders and he has just received his first Germany call-up.
Bayern Munich have already admitted their interest in the highly rated footballer, and it appears they will face challenge from none other than Manchester United.
Matthias Ginter came through the youth ranks at Freiburg and went on to feature in 59 Bundesliga matches for the club. He has so far made 7 appearances for Germany Under-21 side.
