Spain international midfielder David Silva is reportedly close to agreeing a five-year £200,000-a-week deal with English Premier League champions Manchester City, Goal.com understands.
Silva, Manchester City Player’s Player of the Year in 2011-12, tallied six goals and a league-leading 15 assists for City last term.
Subsequently, the 26-year-old Spain international joined Manchester City team-mates Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany and Yaya Touré in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year, and rightfully so.
“I am very happy in England, I have two years left on my contract and I want to see it out,” Silva revealed last season. “Right now, I do not want to return [to Spain], I am enjoying life in England, people treat me wonderfully and I want to continue enjoying this.
“Mancini has complete trust in me, which is very important for a player and I am very happy. My team-mates are adapting well to my game and that is very good for me.”
Do you think Manchester City can successfully ward off interest from Real Madrid with a five-year £200,000-a-week bumper deal?
Tiendalli joins Swansea
Former FC Twente left-back Dwight Tiendalli has joined Premier League side Swansea City on a free transfer until the end of the season, pending Premier League and international approval, Sky Sports reports.
The Swans were in desperate need of a left-back following Neil Taylor’s broken ankle, which will sideline him for the rest of the season.
Tiendalli is set to join former team-mates Michel Vorm, Jonathan de Guzman and Kemy Agustien at the Liberty Stadium after passing his medical on Monday.
“I spoke with Jonathan about the club and all he said was positive things,” revealed the Dutchman.
“He talked very fondly about the people, players and fans here.
“And, of course, the style of football here is very, very attractive. I love this style and it was a big attraction for me.
“I’m looking forward to working under Michael Laudrup, who is a massive name in football, and showing him what I have to offer.”
Tiendalli, formerly of FC Utrecht, Feyenoord Rotterdam and Sparta Rotterdam, made 21 appearances in all competitions for Twente Enschede last season, including six starts in the UEFA Europa League.
Will Tiendalli be the latest bargain signing for Swansea City? We shall see.
Maicon chose City over Chelsea
Maicon’s agent Roberto Calenda has revealed that the 31-year-old Brazilian, who played under current Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan, chose to join Manchester City over European champions Chelsea on transfer deadline day, Sky Sports reveals.
The Brazilian would have been the first-choice right-back at Chelsea, but will now have to compete with the likes of Pablo Zabaleta and City vice-captain Micah Richards for playing time at the Emirates Stadium.
