The Daily Mail are reporting that Manchester City star David Silva wants to be one of the highest earners at the club, but may not be able to get the deal he wants.
Silva is of course one of City’s best players and he wants that shown in his new contract, however talks have stalled over recent weeks.
The Spaniard still has two years left on his current deal, but the Citizens are keen to tie him down on a long term contract as he is one of Roberto Mancini’s prized assets.
Silva apparently wants £200,000 a week, something which the English Premier League side seem hesitant to offer as they try to prepare for the UEFA Finical Fair Play rules.
The news that the two parties may struggle to reach an agreement could see a number of European clubs step up some interest in the playmaker.
La Liga champions Real Madrid are suggested to be admirers of Silva and if they could offer him a big deal, then he may be tempted to head the Bernabeu.
It is certainly an interesting story to keep an eye on, maybe not during this transfer window but in ones in the future.
