Super Deporte is reporting that Valencia are planning a summer assault on former player David Villa.
The 32-year-old has been in fine form since joining Atletico from Barcelona last summer, but he hasn’t quite managed to establish himself as an undisputed starter.
Villa watched last night’s triumph over AC Milan from the bench and it appears the experienced striker could be leaving los Colchoneros at the end of the season.
The Spain international has a contract until June 2015 at Vicente Calderon, but with club officials yet to propose him a new deal, his former club Valencia hope they can lure him back to Mestalla.
Super Deporte claims the striker could be tempted by the opportunity to rejoin los Che, especially if he does not get more playing time under Diego Simeone.
Having enjoyed a 5-1 aggregate victory over AC Milan to reach the Champions League quarter-finals, Atletico Madrid are priced at 12/1 to go all the way.
