Liverpool are believed to be pondering a January move for Barcelona star David Villa, according to AS.
The Reds are desperate to kick-start their season by signing a high-quality striker in January and they are reportedly preparing an offer for Barcelona’s David Villa.
AS understands that Liverpool could make a bid in the region of €12m to €15m.
David Villa has a €200 million release clause inserted in his deal, but with the player turning 31 and his contract running out in June 2014, Barcelona could decide to cash in on him in the winter transfer window.
The Spain international is extremely unhappy with his status at the club and is expected to leave Camp Nou in search of first team football.
Villa has started just 6 of Barcelona’s 15 La Liga matches this season, although he still managed to score 5 goals.
Liverpool could, however, face a stiff competition for the player’s signature from Juventus, with the Serie A champions also keen.
