LONDON (AFP) – Former Wales midfielder Simon Davies boosted English Premier League side Fulham on Tuesday by signing a new three-year contract that runs until 2013.
The 30-year-old — who recently announced his retirement from international football — successfully proved his fitness to last season’s Europa League finalists after a foot injury last season hindered him.
“It’s great that it’s finally done,” Davies, who joined Fulham from Everton in 2007, told the club’s official website.
“I’ve loved my time here, I’m excited for the future and hopefully I’ll finish my career here.”
Davies was named Fulham’s player of the year for the 2007-08 season and played a key role in their run to last season’s Europa League final, scoring the equalising goal in the 2-1 defeat by Atletico Madrid in the final.
Davies spent four-and-a-half seasons with Tottenham before joining Everton for 3.5million pounds in 2005.
