Looking to leapfrog Philadelphia to top spot in the Eastern Conference, DC United will travel to a struggling Toronto in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Starting with the hosts, after having to settle for a place outside of the playoffs last season, it has been another worrying start to the campaign for Toronto. Coming off the back of their lackluster display in their 2-1 loss at home to Philadelphia last weekend, the Reds have lost back-to-back matchups and have recorded just three points over their last four appearances. With only their goal difference seeing them sat in the top-seven, Greg Vanney will also be growing more concerned by his sides form at BMO Field. Suffering a pair of 2-1 defeats in thier last two matches in Ontario, Thursday could prove to be another tough test.
As for the visitors, coming off the back of a 1-0 victory over Sporting KC last weekend, DC United are really enjoying a stellar start to the new campaign. With the chance to leapfrog Philadelphia to top spot in the Eastern Conference, Ben Olsen will be most impressed by his sides’ performances away from Washington. Aside from their close-fought 1-0 loss to fellow high-flyers Minnesota last month, United are unbeaten in their other four MLS matches on the road, winning three of those contests. One man to watch in midweek will be the inform, Paul Arriola. Scoring the winner against Sporting last week, the 24-year-old has two in his last two.
