Transforming into arguably the MLS’ in-form side, Ben Olsen’s DC United will welcome NYCFC to Aufi Field Stadium on Sunday night.

Starting with the hosts, after Ben Olsen and DC United brought in Wayne Rooney as their marquee signing over the summer, it has been a very impressive rise up the Eastern Conference. Coming off the back of another eye-catching showing in their 1-0 win over Toronto last time out, DC have now won their last five on the bounce and are yet to be beaten in any competition since the end of August. Unsurprisingly, one man to watch for the hosts will be their leading goalscorer and England’s former captain. Since moving to Aldi Field Stadium, Rooney now has 10 for the season and also has six in his last five for DC.

As for the visitors, while New York may have impressed after bringing in former Manchester City coach Domènec Torrent to replace Patrick Viera, it has been a very sluggish end to the season for the Sky Blues. Coming off the back of a 2-1 loss away at Minnesota last time out, NYCFC have now managed to pick up just one win in their last eight MLS matchups. Also without a clean sheet since the 27th of July, they have failed to win any of their last four matches on the road.
