Competition: MLS
Market: DC United win
Odds: 8/13 @ Bet 365
Transforming into arguably the MLS’ most in-form side, Ben Olsen’s DC United side will look to make it nine games unbeaten when they host Toronto at Audi Field on Thursday.
Starting with Ben Olsen’s DC United side, coming off the back of a 1-0 win at home to Western high flyers Dallas over the weekend, the hosts have enjoyed an eye-catching rise up the Eastern Conference. Led by former England captain Wayne Rooney, along with winning their last three matches on the bounce, they are yet to be beaten in any competition in their last eight, a run that stems back to the end of August. Unsurprisingly, one man to keep an eye out for will be England’s all-time leading goalscorer. Rooney now has four in his last three for DC.
As for Greg Vanney’s Toronto side, while Toronto did show some signs of life over the summer, it has been an incredibly poor season for the Reds. With it now mathematically impossible to land a playoff position, last years Eastern Conference champions have now lost five of their last six in all competitions. Coming off the back of a very poor showing in their 2-1 loss away at Vancouver, it will be their defensive record giving Vanney the biggest headache. Thursday’s visitors have failed to record a clean sheet in the last three months and they hold the second worst defensive record in the East.
