Ajax coach Frank de Boer has hailed the signing of former Netherlands international Jaap Stam as his assistant.
The former Manchester United defender will join up with the Eredivisie outfit next season as de Boer’s assistant.
De Boer said he was looking forward to working with him and believes the 40-year-old can do a good job with the club’s younger stars.
“I’m happy, because this is what we want to create (at) our club,” de Boer told the club’s website.
“(Stam is) a player with a great track record as a coach, who has charisma to help the youth (at the club).
“I think he has proven that he is a good coach and I think we are getting a better Jaap Stam.”
The 40-year-old, who had playing spells with Lazio, AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven and Ajax, will leave his post as assistant coach at FC Zwolle and join de Boer’s coaching team at the end of the season.
