The agent of VfL Wolfsburg winger Kevin De Bruyne, Patrick De Koster, has rubbished reports linking the player with a move to German champions Bayern Munich.
The Belgium international, who joined Wolfsburg from Chelsea for £18 million in January 2014, has been absolutely brilliant for Die Wölfe this season, having tallied six goals and 13 assists in 25 appearances across all competitions in 2014/15.
De Bruyne’s recent purple patch has reportedly caught the eye of Bayern Munich, with increasing speculation linking the Belgian with a move to the Allianz Arena.
However, De Koster has moved to deny such rumours, insisting his client is happy at Wolfsburg.
“I never said there had been contact with Bayern,” De Koster told Germany’s Sport1 television. “There’s been no contact with Bayern at all and no contact with any other club either.
“Kevin has played a great season so far with Wolfsburg and it’s only normal that other clubs are watching him, but nobody has spoken to me.
“I have great respect for Wolfsburg and I thank [director of sport] Klaus Allofs for giving Kevin the chance when he was not in a good situation with Chelsea and could not play.”
De Koster added: “We can only thank Wolfsburg. He signed a new contract until 2019 with them in January and after a good World Cup, he’s been in good form for Wolfsburg.
“Naturally he is only thinking about Wolfsburg. Kevin only wants to stay here.”
Now then, should he stay or should he go?
Targett wants Alderweireld stay
Southampton F.C. starlet Matt Targett is hoping the club can sign Belgium international defender Toby Alderweireld to a permanent deal.
Alderweireld, 25, is currently on loan at St Mary’s from Atlético Madrid, and has been one of the Saints’ most important players from the first half of the season.
“He is a great guy and on the pitch he is amazing,” Targett said. “He would be a great signing and I hope we can sign him.
“He has been amazing since he came in. Week in, week out he has been consistently one of the best players for us. He was a great signing, he has done really well.”
Targett started his first career English Premier League match against Chelsea last weekend, and somewhat fortuitously avoided conceding a penalty after apparently tripping Cesc Fabregas in the box.
Regarding his first start, Targett added: “It was certainly different. It was a hard game for my first Premier League start. It was good, though. I enjoyed it. The last half-hour we were hanging on a little bit. It was difficult but I am glad we got the point.”
