Bundesliga duo Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg are leading the race to secure the services of out of favour Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, Sky Sports understands.
The Belgium international has not made a league appearance for the Blues since the 2-0 win over Fulham back in September, with all of his limited game time since coming in the Champions League.
The 22 year old moved to Stamford Bridge last July, but was immediately loaned out to Werder Bremen where he impressed with ten goals in thirty-three league appearances.
Since being criticised by manager Jose Mourinho for his performance in the 2-0 League Cup victory over Swindon Town earlier in the season, De Bruyne has been strongly linked with a move away from the English capital, with a return to Germany mooted.
The River Islanders, Borussia Dortmund, Hamburg and Schalke have also been linked with the former Genk man, who is in line to appear at next summer’s World Cup finals.
