German daily newspaper Bild has learned that Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is set to be rewarded with a new contract at Volkswagen Arena.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a stunning season with the Wolves, helping the club lift the DFB Pokal title and achieve a top 2 finish in Bundesliga.
And having scored 10 goals and produced 20 assists in the process, it is hardly surprising that De Bruyne has been heavily linked with a big club move.
However, Wolfsburg have made it clear they have no intention to sell this summer and will instead seriously improve the midfielder’s contract.
With De Bruyne currently earning €5 million gross per season, he will be taking home at least €8.5 million when he extends his contract that will also contain a €60 million release clause.
According to Bild, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain lead the chase for the player’s services.
