De Gea closing in on new Manchester United deal

The Mirror understands that David De Gea is ready to quash speculation on his future and put pen to paper on a new deal at Manchester United.

The shot-stopper was expected to seal a move to Real Madrid last month only for the plug to be pulled on the prospective transfer at the eleventh hour.

The fresh contract is worth £200,000 per week and would see him committed to the Red Devils, for whom he originally signed for in the summer of 2011.

Since then, the twenty-four year old has racked up one hundred and seventy-five appearances in all competitions while he was part of the squad that won the Premier League in 2013.

Internationally, he won the last of his six senior caps for Spain in their victory over FYR Macedonia on Tuesday evening, and he could now be set for his first club game of the campaign as United host rivals Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.
