De Gea future still uncertain

Manchester United are mostly satisfied with their transfer business this summer. They have signed three players, including Harry Maguire for a world-record fee for a defender, but one thing they still have not done – extended David De Gea’s contract.

The Spanish goalkeeper still did not sign a new deal with the club, which is clouding his future at Old Trafford. According to The Mirror, De Gea was offered a £350,000-a-week contract extension this summer, but he has not decided to sign it just yet. This means that Man United could be losing all their ‘bargaining chips’, as De Gea is now in his final year of the contract.

His current contract is set to expire in June 2020 and once the January comes round, the Spaniard will be able to talk to non-English clubs about a free transfer move. That would suit Real Madrid the most, who are very interested in him and could be getting a true bargain next summer.
